The mission of the Delta Cultural Center is a large and crucial one – to preserve, research, document, interpret, and present the heritage of the people of the Arkansas Delta. The public support of those who also embrace the value and wisdom of that mission is invaluable to us.

To carry out its mission, the DCC utilizes activities in four principal areas:

  • Interpretive exhibitry, including permanent exhibits, interactive media, and temporary and traveling exhibitions.
  • Public presentations, including performances, lectures, broadcasts, readings, conferences, screenings, reenactments, and living history.
  • Educational programming focused on schools, including curriculum development, the creation of classroom materials, summer institute programs for teachers, and on-site support for classroom teachers.
  • Documentation and resource acquisition, including research, museum collections, and archives.

The DCC’s activities in all of these areas can be greatly magnified through various methods of support from friends of the museum. Here are just a few ways you can aid the Delta Cultural Center:

  • Attend Delta Cultural Center events and encourage your friends, relatives, and local school bodies to do the same! The museum’s public funding is influenced in no small part by the number of folks we draw to our exhibitions, programs, musical events, and more. Further, greater participation creates greater excitement about Delta heritage and a greater awareness and understanding among the people of the Arkansas Delta. You might take time today to send a friend one of our e-Postcards and invite them to an upcoming Delta Cultural Center function.
  • Make a donation to Delta cultural Center to support the many programs and activities of the DCC. State and federal funding only go so far, and can fall short or suffer long-term cuts from time to time. The support of an interested public can allow museums to weather these difficult periods and continue to move forward in their missions and service to their focus regions. Such generosity and commitment on the part of concerned citizens aids the museum in so many ways, from its ability to acquire and preserve artifacts, serve the thousands of visitors we welcome annually, and reach out not only to our treasured schools, but to an ever smaller world that finds itself connected to the Delta through the DCC’s ever-expanding Internet presence. That web presence allows the DCC to take its mission across the nation, and, yes, much of the world. For forms or more information about methods of contributing – including long-term planned giving, please contact Thomas Jacques, development specialist at (800) 358-0972 or e-mail him at thomas@arkansasheritage.org. For legal and financial advice about various methods and strategies for giving, we urge you to consult an estate attorney, accountant, or financial planner.
  • Donate artifacts to Delta Cultural Center. Here at the Delta Cultural Center, we don’t believe history should stay hidden in a box at the back of a closet. Many of the museum’s most prized artifacts were gifts to the DCC. Memorabilia, family photographs, furniture items, machinery – a wide variety of items can be of great value as the museum seeks to tell the tale of particular aspects of Delta history in a new exhibition. Please contact Gregg Cook, our curator of collections, if you believe you have an item that could aid the Delta Cultural Center, or if you simply have questions about the donation process. Call Gregg Cook at (870) 338-4350 or e-mail him at gregg@arkansasheritage.org.
  • Volunteer at Delta Cultural Center. We enjoying bringing interested individuals, families, and business and civic groups into the DCC’s planning and events as volunteers, aiding in a wide variety of ways. For more information on how you can become involved, please contact Thomas Jacques, development specialist, at (800) 358-0972 or e-mail him at thomas@arkansasheritage.org.
